The Super Falcons win their first qualifying game against Ivory Coast as they try to qualify for the latest edition of AWCON.
The first game was played in Abuja on Friday, 18 February, 2022.
The Super Falcons have won the tournament 11 times and are the most successful team so far.
Nigeria opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Ifeoma Onumonu.
The first half ended with the Falcons leading and dominating the game.
As the second half got under way, the Falcons continued to dominate and look for the second goal.
In the 54th minute, Mbadi was substituted for Kanu.
Ifeoma doubled the lead for the Super Falcons in the 56th minute.
New addition to the team, defender Ashleigh Plumptre was impressive which also got lots of fans hailing her after the game.
With this Super Falcons win, they now go into the second leg with a lot of confidence and advantage.
Barcelona player, Asisat Oshoala was not part of the team even though she was part of the training some days ago.
The team was in high spirit and it showed in the way they played.
The second leg is on February 23 in Abidjan.
