It is another embarrassing news out of Tokyo as Chukwuebuka Enekwechi washes jersey ahead of shotput final.
Chukwuebuka advanced to the final after launching his implement to a mark of 21.16m.
He ranked 7th but still made it through to the final of the men’s shotput.
This is another medal hopeful after Ese Brume and Blessing Oborududu won bronze and silver respectively.
He secured a non-automatic qualifying position after placing 4th in Group B.
Others that qualified through non-automatic slots are Armin Sinancevic of Serbia, Kovac Joe and Peyton Otterdahl of the United States, Kyle Blingnaut of South Africa, and New Zealand’s Gill Jacko.
He is the reigning Nigerian National Sports Festival and also champion of the 2019 African Games.
He would be hoping to do one better and get on the podium at least to increase the medals won by Nigeria.
However, in a recent video he uploaded on social media, Chukwuebuka shared something with Nigerians.
He showed himself washing his jersey ahead of the Men’s shotput final.
In the short video, he claims this is the only jersey he has and he had to wash it and wear it again.
It is not a good sight as Chukwuebuka washes jersey when he should be provided with more than one.
The little issues have clouded the performances of Nigeria’s athletes who have been trying their best.
Nigerian wrestler, Odunayo Adekuoroye lost the quarter-finals against Anastasia Nichita of Modlova.
Adekuoroye was leading 8-2 but Anastasia floored her in the later stages to take the fight.
it was a really painful defeat as Odunayo was looking to advance to the semi-final just like Oborududu did.
With a few events left, the Nigerian delegates can only hope to have a good outing in some games.
