Nigeria crash out of AFCON 2021 after a 1-0 defeat to Tunisia in the round of 16.

The Super Eagles started the tournament in confident fashion winning all 3 group games.

They were already looking like favourites with a lot of praises coming their way.

Tunisia on the other hand qualified after winning only one group game and coming third.

The Tunisians also had a a COVID situation which saw their head coach getting isolated.

All that did not stop them from implementing their game plan.

The first half saw both teams try to take hold of the game, but it ended in a boring draw.

Tunisia came into the second half and scored in the 47th minute.

It was a goal that many fans have blamed goalkeeper Maduka Okoye for.

Nigeria didn’t seem to have any answers as both wings were clipped.

Chukwueze and Moses Simon could not penetrate as Awoniyi and Iheanacho were without delivery.

The Super Eagles had no answers to the questions asked by the Tunisians all game.

Substitute, Alex Iwobi made matters worse when he stamped on the Tunisian captain’s foot.

He was awarded a yellow card but after a VAR check, the card was upgraded to a straight red.

The Super Eagles played with 10 men from the 66th minute.

The journey ends as Nigeria crash out of AFCON 2021 and will now look forward to the World Cup Qualifiers where they face Ghana.
