Manchester United defeat Aston Villa

Manchester United defeat Villa at Old Trafford to advance to the next round of the FA Cup.

The Red Devils were without captain Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The team has been inconsistent since the arrival of interim manager, Ralf Ragnick.

An 8th minute header from McTomminay was enough to see United through despite Villa dominating.

Steven Gerard’s side did all the playing and had a goal disallowed after VAR was called into action.

Watkins and Ings gave the defensive pair of Lindelof and Varane headache.

De Gea was also called into action a couple of times in the game.

Midfielder McGinn controlled the midfield as Bruno, Fred and McTomminay could not stage a presence.

Aston Villa were rather unlucky after their goal was disallowed in the second half.

First VAR adjudged it to be offside, then it was ruled as an obstruction on Cavani.

United were just lucky to get the victory as they were second best all through the game.

Manchester United defeat Villa and would now face Middlesbrough in February.

Premier League great, Alan Shearer believes the goal should not have been disallowed.

Red Devils fans will take the win any time, any day, and Gerard should be proud of his team.
