Is Pep Guardiola cursed? That is the question many have been asking since Man City lost to Real Madrid.
Manchester City got to the final of the Champions League last season but lost to Chelsea by an Havertz goal.
Pep and City were favorites this season as they got to the semi-final yet again.
However, the way they lost the semifinal to Real Madrid after taking a two goal lead 3 times in the tie is unbelievable.
Before the game, many people have faulted Pep for overthinking big games and making mistakes.
In this game, he went for a predictable lineup even though he rushed Walker back into the game.
Walker was able to tame Vini Jr until he was substituted in the second half.
With the painful loss, a lot of social media users have given reasons why Pep’s team lost the game.
It is also said that he has not won the Champions League without Leo Messi.
Yaya Toure’s curse
When Pep joined City, there was a misunderstanding between him and Yaya till the Ivorian left the club.
During the time, Yaya’s manager claims Africans were unhappy with Pep and have cursed him that he would not win the UCL until he apologizes.
This is not the first time Pep will have an issue with a player, Samuel Eto’o and Ibrahimovic have also spoken against the Spaniard.
But, is this curse real or it is just a coincidence that he has not won the Champions League yet?
Since the 2019/2020 season, Pep and City have gotten to the UCL semi-finals and gotten to the final once.
He has also won the Premier League 3 times since joining the club in 2016. That is more than any other manager since he joined.
EPL Title race
Despite the loss to Madrid, City are still in the running for the Premier League title, their fourth under Pep.
Many fans have said Pep is not elite since he has spend £1bn and never won the Champions League.
He has brought a lot of trophies to the Etihad except the Champions League.
Rivals also believe that this loss could affect their title race as Liverpool continues to breathe down their necks.
Manchester City are now top contenders in the Champions League and EPL because of Pep.
He has won them the most trophies since he joined and also made them a force in Europe so far.
The only trophy missing in the City cabinet is the Champions League which is a good thing for the club.
With all these successes, is Pep Guardiola cursed or it is just a glitch in his career?
