Game 7 between the Nets and Bucks was a winner-takes-all and it was in Brooklyn. A lot of people expected the Nets to take the game as both teams have protected their home court and lost on the road.
With a massive game 6 where Giannis stepped up after an impressive game 5 by Kevin Durant who knocked down 49 points. It was however the Bucks that took the game. They made sure the Nets were not far off even when they were leading.
Giannis Antetokounmpo carried his team by scoring 40 points, his career high before the likes of Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday made some important buckets to seal the victory.
It was a mixture of luck and grit as the Bucks were leading by 2 points in the fourth quarter and Lopez getting a shot stop violation in the dying seconds. Kevin Durant’s feet were on the arc when he scored in the dying minutes, if he had moved back an inch then he would have won the game for the Nets.
Injuries played a part
Fans of the Nets have blamed injuries for their woes and claim if Harden and Kyrie were fit then the Bucks wouldn’t have stood a chance. That is true, but injuries are part of sports and that is why Basketball is a team sport. A lot of people did not expect the Bucks to even get a game 7 especially after they choked the game 5 in Brooklyn.
James Harden pulled a hamstring in game one while Kyrie was out injured in game 4 after he mistakenly stepped on Giannis’s foot twisting his ankle.
More than luck
Luck might not play a part in the Eastern Conference final for the Bucks because they would be meeting a team that is not relying on individuals. The other members of the team will have to step up and not rely only on Giannis to get the job done.
All of a sudden the Bucks are now favorites but they will have to get the hype out of their heads if they really want to get to the NBA Finals.
