Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta could be facing a sack if he fails to improve the team this season. Fans were grumbling about how the team finished last season and might not be patient this time around.
Arteta’s team finished 8th position in the 2020/2021 Premier League season and also out of Europa League qualification. The team just couldn’t get a string of results with some very bad runs.
With this season kicking off in some weeks, the Gunners are already in the market to strengthen the squad and looking to improve on past mishaps. Here are 5 reasons Arteta is facing a sack if there are no improvements.
Relationship with players
Mikel Arteta needs to have a better relationship with his players as they are the ones that could support him and put in more effort towards getting results. We have seen him have clashes with some players like Ozil, Guedounzi, Xhaka among others. He needs the players on his side.
Getting results
The team needs to start getting results especially against smaller teams. Arsenal struggled to get a draw against bottom half teams and players like Saka, Smith-Rowe had to be the ones to bring the spark to the team. He needs to address the resilience of the team especially towards the end of games.

Style of play
Arsenal fans are already accustomed to a style of play and Arteta has not really shown that. Although he has promoted some academy players to the first team, his style has not been established in the team yet. The players need to trust him more, his decision and ultimately believe that this style will work.
Managing information
Some fans have complained of Arteta’s utterances to the media about the happenings within the club. He seems to give the media a lot more information to destabilize the team than to help the team focus. He needs to start knowing what to give the media to run with and how to shield his team from getting affected by comments.
Win a trophy
The reason Arteta still has a job is because he has actually won the FA Cup and Community Sheild since he took over. He needs to continue winning trophies or else he would be getting the boot. If he can get the team to win a trophy this new season then he could still keep his job.
It is a huge job for Arteta and he needs to hit the ground running from the first game of the new season. With one or two solid signings in key departments, the team should be a force to reckon with.
One of the additional reasons he still has the Arsensal job is because of his contributions as a former player. Arteta doesn’t strike me as a top-of-the-shelf manager and their last season’s finish butresses my point. After letting Ozil go, despite his dedication, I knew he had problems in the locker room. He is at the edge of the cliff and I don’t see things turning around for them in the new season.
So true, they are still giving him that benefit of a doubt because he is a former player or else he would have gotten the boot. Although winning the FA Cup could be another reason he still has a lifeline. This season is a make or break season for him and he has to either deliver or get the boot especially with the buys the Gunners are making at the moment.
